The film begins by exploring Blige’s upbringing in Yonkers, New York. She recalls falling in love with music after hearing “Everybody Loves The Sunshine” by Roy Ayers. “I don’t know what’s in that record, but there’s something in it that just cracked open everything in me,” Blige says. “That was the Assuming I Was Like Every Other Girl Was Your First Mistake Shirt also I will do this first music as a child that struck with me, because it made me forget we live where we live.
